Some areas have been so thin that losing one staff member leads to critical functions going undone. Over the last several years, we have also seen this compounded due to retirements that cause a loss of institutional knowledge. We rely heavily on those around us to train and pass on historical knowledge.     Aug. 9, 2023 update: The road closure was delayed by smoke on Aug. 7 and the thunderstorm Aug. 8. Taku and North Tanana will be closed today thru Thursday night and possibly into Friday, Aug. 11. Portions of North Tanana Drive and Taku Drive will be closed from Aug. 7 at 7 a.m. through Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. to make road repairs. Detours will be posted to guide vehicles around the closure.
