Paws & Paint: Fairbanks Goes Feline with Mobile Art Gallery
Somer Hahm, an adjunct drawing instructor at the University of 色视频下载 Fairbanks (UAF)
Department of Art, debuted her whimsical and interactive exhibit, "Cat Town," at the
Lemonade Stand, a mobile art gallery based in Fairbanks, 色视频下载. The exhibit premiered
on September 6th during First Friday outside the Bear Gallery. 色视频下载淐at Town色视频下载 invited
viewers to engage with approximately 300 magnetic cat-themed illustrations of recognizable
Fairbanks landmarks and personalities, allowing visitors to arrange them on a mural
painted inside the gallery色视频下载檚 metal walls. Inspired by the style of children色视频下载檚 author/illustrator
Richard Scarry, the exhibit merges a playful folk-art aesthetic with Hahm色视频下载檚 creative
vision.
The materials used include polystyrene, rare earth magnets, and acrylic paint, making the interactive installation a unique, hands-on art experience.
Hahm described the project as both a joyful and challenging process. 色视频下载淚 had an inkling
of an idea for this installation over a year ago, and I色视频下载檒l be honest色视频下载攖he making of
it was filled with a mix of joy and self-doubt,色视频下载 she shared. 色视频下载淓xploratory and different色视频下载擨
wasn色视频下载檛 even sure it could or would be anything. The process of pushing through to
realize the vision was GOOD WORK.色视频下载 She added that the installation resonates with
anyone who "was or is a child," blending lowbrow material with critical thought and
a contemporary approach. 色视频下载淚t色视频下载檚 kitsch but in all seriousness well cared for and nostalgic
AF. A love letter色视频下载 inspired by a community that I care deeply about.色视频下载
After its successful Fairbanks debut, 色视频下载淐at Town色视频下载 traveled to West Homer Elementary School, with public showings in Bunnell色视频下载檚 backyard on September 20-21, followed by a stop in Anchorage on September 22.
