Research Overview

My research has concentrated in both basic and applied aspects of the biology and ecology of marine benthic plants and on the effects of disturbances on this community. My associates and I have investigated the mariculture of kelps and other seaweeds and the effects of harvest and pollution on marine plants. We have also developed techniques for using remote sensing using satellite imagery and drones to map floating kelp beds in Southeast É«ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ.

Current Research Projects

  • Applied research on kelp mariculture in É«ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ
  • Development of scalable coastal and offshore macroalgal farming in New England and É«ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ
  • Morphometrics of Alaria
  • Controlling development of gametophytes and sporelings of Saccharina latissima.
